DUI Penalties – Vehicle Impoundment
DUI Penalties – Vehicle Impoundment
One possible penalty for driving under the influence is vehicle impoundment. According to Florida Statute 316.193, vehicle impoundment or immobilization will result for first-time DUI convictions as a condition of probation. Your vehicle will be impounded for up to ten years and will not be concurrent with any time that the defendant is required to spend incarcerated.
For a second conviction, the impoundment will last up to 30 days, while a third or subsequent conviction will result in immobilizing the vehicle for up to 30 days. Multiple DUI offenses will lengthen the time of impoundment.
