Born and raised in Anchorage, Matthew Farr grew up during the Alaskan oil boom of the 1970’s and 80’s. His path took him across multiple disciplines, eventually landing him in Orlando as a lawyer.
In 1983, Matt had the life-changing opportunity to travel to Paraguay, South America as an exchange student where he mastered a new language and culture. Upon returning from South America, he received his High School Diploma and spent a summer working at a lodge in the Alaska bush.
Trading Alaska for Boulder, Colorado, Matthew went on to study Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder on a scholarship from the Air Force ROTC.
Upon graduation in 1988, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force and left Colorado to attend Undergraduate Missile Training at Vandenberg AFB in California. Matt was a top performer graduate and assigned to the 321st missile squadron at F.E. Warren AFB in Wyoming where he progressed from Deputy Missile Combat Crew Commander to Alternate Squadron Post Flight Commander through nearly 300 Strategic Alerts for over four years.
After completing his operational tour of duty, Matt relocated to Hanscom AFB, Mass., and worked as an Acquisition Test Engineer on such diverse programs as the Cheyenne Mountain Upgrade program and Joint STARS.
In 1993, Matt separated himself from active duty in the Air Force and continued to work as a Software Engineer at several start-up companies in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
He earned High Distinctions on a Master of Science degree in Computer Science in 2001 and then relocated to Orlando, Florida.
In 2004, Matt made a career change and attended Barry University School of Law where he distinguished himself as the Editor-in-Chief of the Barry Law Review and graduated cum laude.

Matt is happily married to his wife of 16 years, Maritza – whom he met while stationed in Wyoming – and they have two beautiful children together.
